Family-Home Manners & Social Behavior

We prepare your adult German Shepherd to behave respectfully and confidently in everyday family life.

  • Guest manners: polite greetings, no jumping, doorbell neutrality
  • Family behavior: calm around movement, voices, household activity
  • House rules: no rushing doors, no counter surfing, settling on command
  • Noise tolerance: TV, vacuum, doors, normal household sound
  • Handling & grooming: paws, ears, collar checks, gentle restraint
  • Boundary training: door waits, off-limits areas, “leave it”
  • Relaxation skills: teaching the dog to rest calmly indoors
  • Confidence building: new locations, surfaces, environments

Other Dogs: Structured, Safe Exposure

German Shepherds need calm, controlled guidance — not chaotic, off-leash environments.

  • Neutral-dog exposure: focus on handler, not excitement
  • Parallel walks: polite walking next to adult dogs
  • Brief, polite interaction: only with matched, vaccinated dogs
  • Impulse control: no lunging, no pushy greetings
  • Body-language literacy: rewarding calm decisions
  • Controlled setups: we do not use public dog parks
  • Re-engagement training: attention back to handler
  • Health protocols: sanitized surfaces, controlled exposure

Car Rides & Public Outings

Your German Shepherd learns to travel calmly and behave appropriately in public.

  • Calm loading into crate or harness
  • Sit & wait before exiting the vehicle
  • Motion confidence from short to extended rides
  • Store exposure (age-appropriate, controlled)
  • Sound desensitization: carts, doors, traffic, voices
  • Heel around people & distractions
